The Village at Gainesville

Tower at Gainesville, Florida

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Smarter Dining, Better Living.

Technology was a deliberate design driver for this project, shaping how residents and visitors experience dining from the moment they arrive. Self-order and pre-order stations paired with self-checkout systems reduce staffing demands without reducing service quality, giving the operations team a leaner, more flexible model built for long-term sustainability.

The result is two distinct all-day dining destinations: Fresca Eatery, a fast-casual venue anchored by a hearth oven, and the Citrus Bar & Market, a combined bar and retail concept that extends service well into the evening with after-hours market access. Together, they offer variety and convenience within a single cohesive dining environment.

THE FINISHED SPACE

GRAPHICS & BRANDING

Rooted in Florida. Built for this community.

The branding for this Gainesville community drew from the land and history surrounding it: the orange groves that once defined the region, the Spanish influence woven into its early settlement, and the residents' deep appreciation for nature and creativity. The challenge was translating that local character into brands that felt genuinely rooted rather than decorative, while coordinating with a vibrant interior palette already in place.

For the bistro, bar, and market, the two venues share a physical proximity and a shared energy, but each needed its own identity. Citrus Bar & Market leans into sophisticated tropical tones, with a playful, decidedly Florida personality. Fresca takes its name from the Spanish word for "fresh," a nod to local history that also captures the lively, health-forward spirit of the bistro. The two brands work in tandem: distinct enough to feel like separate destinations, connected enough to feel like a unified dining neighborhood.

For the fine dining room, Blu called for a quieter kind of confidence. Set apart from the energy of the bistro and market, the brand carries a calm, sophisticated presence that suits both an ordinary Tuesday and a special occasion equally well. Bistro 27 West, an existing name, received a clean logo refresh to bring it into the same cohesive family. Across all four venues, the brand work extended to menus, tabletops, uniform direction, dinnerware, and branded disposables, including napkins, coasters, coffee cups, and packaging. Each touchpoint was considered as part of the larger experience, reinforcing the sense of place that brought the whole program together.
